Sixty-five years ago this Christmas, then 6-year-old Karolyn Grimes played the role of Zuzu Bailey in the iconic film "It's a Wonderful Life."
Playing the youngest daughter of George and Mary Bailey, who were played by Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed, Grimes earned her place in film history, and endeared herself to the legion of fans who can't imagine Christmas without at least one viewing of "It's a Wonderful Life."
Grimes will speak at Asbury University Friday night, where she'll talk about that role, and how it has shaped her life since.
A special screening of "It's a Wonderful Life" will also be held.
The event is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Hughes Auditorium on the campus of Asbury University in Wilmore. Admission is free.
Grimes appeared in 15 movies in all, with big stars including Cary Grant, Loretta Young, John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara, and Randolph Scott.
