Police say they caused thousands of dollars in damage and are looking for help from the public to find the people responsible.
Police say vandals armed with spray paint tagged a storage building at Maple Grove Cemetery as well as the skate ramps at Lake Mingo Park in Nicholasville.
"Sad," explained James Hubbard, who works at the cemetery. "It is a place that is supposed to be sacred. To tear up a cemetery; that's bad."
Hubbard believes the damage must have been done after dark. He says he drove by the cemetery on Main Street at 7:30 Tuesday evening and didn't see any signs of trouble.
It will take a lot to remove the graffiti, including obscenities, the nickname "goofy," and the initials "KHN" from the metal storage building.
Police say because the markings and spray paint colors match, they are confident the same people tagged the skate ramps in the nearby park.
Officers say the people responsible did leave behind one spray paint can that they are dusting for fingerprints.
Folks working at the cemetery say they are re grateful the vandals only hit the building, and left the graves alone.
