The Federal Emergency Management Agency has opened a new relief center for victims of last month's flash flooding. The new center that opened Tuesday morning will help victims in Jessamine County file for relief and aid.
The relief center is at 213 S. Main Street in Nicholasville. It will be open from 9:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Saturday. FEMA agents will be on hand to answer questions about the different programs flood victims can apply for.
Flash flooding on May 1 and 2 hit Jessamine County hard. Dozens of people had to be rescued from a nursing home and assisted living facility. High water also left folks in a mobile home park under water and flooded out several roads in the area as well.
