Wednesday night, Katie Guevara went to the Jessamine County Fair with her family to celebrate her birthday. She ended up celebrating at the hospital, getting injured on one of the fair's rides.
With Katie's arm in a sling, her mother's now worried the same could happen to another child. The State Agriculture Department says three reported injures on two fair rides. Fair President Jay Bruner says they shut down the ride Guevara was on as soon as they heard about the accident.
"It's an incident that you never want to happen. Of course we all feel sorry for the child and we hope their recovery is soon," says Bruner.
A state investigator came out to the fairgrounds Thursday afternoon to check the rides in question. Bruner says they won't start those two rides back up until they meet all safety standards.
