A Nicholasville police officer was struck by a car Thursday night and was taken to UK Hospital.
Authorities say it happened at the intersection of Rebel Road and Garden Park Drive just before 10 p.m.
Police say Officer Gil Rendon has some bumps and bruises. He also lost a tooth, but he is expected to be fine.
Police say Officer Rendon was on bicycle patrol with another officer on Rebel Road when a pickup truck turned the corner from Garden Park too sharply and hit Rendon on his bike. The other officer was not hit.
The driver of that truck stopped immediately, and help was quickly on its way.
Police say this appears to be just an unfortunate accident. A collision reconstruction team will investigate to help determine if that driver will be cited.
Officer Rendon has been released from U.K. Hospital.
