Police say the victim was walking alongside the road when two men approached asking for directions.

The man who was on his way home, wanted to help the driver out.

"As he approached the car, they pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and asked for all his money," said Kevin Grimes with the Nicholasville Police Department.

The victim complied, which is exactly what police say you should do when in this situation.

"Go with what your gut says. Give them what they ask for. Don't do anything else," said Grimes.

The two men escaped, driving out onto highway 169 heading toward highway 27.

The victim told police both men were white. The driver was wearing a black skull-cap and appeared to be between 20 and 26 years old.

"I think the majority of all the people out there are truly honest people who are not up for something like this. In this situation, our victim just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Police say they do believe this is an isolated incident, but people should stay on their guard.

Police say the two men were in a late model, brown Monte Carlo.
