Police are looking for a man who violently snatched a woman's purse in the parking lot of a Walmart.
The robbery happened at about 5:30pm Thursday night in Nicholasville. A man in the Wal-Mart parking lot snatched a purse from an 84-year old woman, pushing her to the ground in the process. He then ran off. Officers arrived within minutes, and immediately canvassed the area.
The victim was transported to the hospital due to a broken hip that she received during the attack.
The robber was described by witnesses as a white male between 5'10" and 6'1" with a thin build. He had short light brown or blond hair and was wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and work boots. Officers were unable to locate the suspect.
"We were there within a minute or two. We surrounded the area. We couldn't find this guy. We believe he probably got into a vehicle at some point," says Sgt. Scott Harvey, with the Nicholasville Police Department.
The purse was recovered shortly after the incident on Groggins Ferry Road in Jessamine County. All the contents of the purse were still inside. The purse was returned to the family of the victim.
"I don't know if the guy got scared. If he dropped it accidentally and didn't come back for it. She did get all of her stuff back but it's unfortunate that she was severely injured," adds Harvey.
Nicholasville Police are asking anyone with any information to contact the police department at 859-885-9467.
