NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A tragedy brought an outpouring of support from the community, now relatives of the Hibbard family are saying "thank you."

Steven and Shaila Hibbard and their three children died in June when their car hit a van. The vehicles collided head-on on U.S. 27 in Nicholasville.

That van belonged to Refuge for Women. One woman died in the crash. Four passengers were hospitalized.

The Lexington based group helps women get out of the sex industry.

Barbara Johnson, Steven Hibbard's great-aunt, says the Hibbard's funeral expenses are now covered thanks to the community. She says caskets, tombstones, flowers, food, and money have been donated.

She would like to see future donations sent to Refuge for Women.

"I would not want their families to go through what we went through," said Johnson.

The women injured in the accident are recovering. They are out of the hospital and are working to get back with Refuge for Women.
