NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - The investigation into a freak accident that killed a Jessamine County man continues. Police don't know how a piece of concrete flew through Michael Conley's windshield, killing the 63-year-old.

Conley was on his way to work at McKenney Floor Covering. The accident happened on Catnip Hill, less than a mile away from the office. The coroner says the chunk was approximately eight inches long and four to five inches wide.

Linda McKenney worked with Conley for more than 30 years. Conley worked as an installer with her company. She says he would come by the office whether he was working or not, for a cup of coffee or just to chat.

"It's unreal. I expect to see him come in any minute," said McKenney.

Police still have questions about how and why the accident happened. While police are investigating, McKenney is adjusting to life without Conley.

"He, often times, would be my first contact in the morning. He was always upbeat. So, it was a good way to start the day," explained McKenney.

Conley will be laid to rest this Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Nicholasville.
