Man hits deputy with vehicle, takes off

Police need help identifying two people involved in a hit and run crash with a sheriff's deputy. The incident happened on December 9th.

The off duty deputy was traveling along U.S. 27, near Brannon Crossing, when a vehicle struck him from behind.

The deputy got out of his car and went to check on the people who rear-ended him. When he identified himself to the driver of the other vehicle as a deputy, that driver took off. In doing so, he hit the deputy with his vehicle. The deputy suffered minor injuries.

The vehicle that struck the deputy was recovered by the Lexington Police on Southpoint Drive later that night. Police determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Jessamine County.

Police were able to get security footage from a Speedway in Frankfort that shows the two subjects inside the vehicle.

Anyone with information on either of the men is asked to call the Nicholasville Police Department at 859 885-9467.
