NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A Central Kentucky mother is asking for help finding her son who disappeared earlier this month.

Gwendolyn Mitchell tells us she hasn't heard from her son, 41-year-old William Douglas Mitchell, since August 3. At the time, he was driving his semi in Texas for business. "He picked up a load of beer in Houston that was suppose to have been delivered in San Antonio on Saturday the 4th, it was never delivered," explains Mitchell. "Police say his phone pinged in between those two cities and that his last call out was around 1:00 PM on the 3rd. Since then no one has heard from him which is very odd. He never went anywhere without his phone- it was always attached to his hip."

Mitchell says on Monday, August 6, she received a strange phone call from her son's boss. "Monday the 6th, we got a call saying that the police from Texas had called and said they found my son dead in a truck. He told me the police told him he'd been dead approximately two days. However, when I talked to Texas State Police they told me that they never made that phone call and had no idea what I was talking about."

After searching for Young's semi Mitchell says they found it behind an Auto Zone. "It was hidden in the back and it was broken into. His phone was inside but he was not. That was the red flag for me."

With no leads and an abandoned truck Mitchell is left wondering her son may be or if he is in harms way. "He could be anywhere, he was driving close to the border of Mexico so there is always that risk, but either way, I know someone knows something. I just want someone to come forward and tell us what they know. He has a little daughter who is desperately missing her dad. He is my only son, my one and only child. I can't rest at night if I don't know where he is. My heart is telling me one thing but my gut is telling me something else. I don't feel him with me anymore and that hurts me, it concerns me. It's a mothers intuition, and my intuition is telling me that he is not ok."

Texas State Police as well as San Antonio Police are looking into the matter. Mitchell tells us she has also filed a missing persons report with the Louisville Police Department as well. Young was born and raised in the Lexington area but moved to Louisville.
