In order to create the setting for 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', a production being put on by the students at West Jessamine High School, 53 live trees were cut down for the forest.
The work began in August and was complete and ready to go. During a routine fire inspection, the State Fire Marshal deemed the trees and leaves to dangerous.
In a half an hour the set was cleared and is now in a pile behind the school.
The school plans to rebuild a set using fake trees and has rescheduled the performances for the second week in December.
