Reward offered in arson cases

Several fires in Nicholasville in the past week have investigators believing someone intentionally set them.

On December 25 around midnight, the Nicholasville Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Third Street at Mill Street. Upon arrival a barn was found to be fully engulfed. This fire spread to three homes located on Stellar St. which backed up to the barn. Those home sustained considerable damage as well.

During the time of other fires, a 911 call came in about a vehicle that was on fire at Stratton Lumber which is located on Third Street near Mill St. Upon arrival, firefighters found a large box truck that was on fire in the cab area of the truck. The fire was quickly put out.

On December 17, 2011 there were two additional fires that have been listed as suspicious in nature as well. These fires took place on Stephens Dr. which is located in close proximity to the above listed incidents.

At this time investigators are looking at the evidence and have determined that all fires are of a suspicious nature.

The Nicholasville Police Department along with the Kentucky State Arson Task Force is offering up to a $1000 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect(s).
