Nicholasville Police say that a gold pickup truck turned in front of traffic on U.S. 27 at Commerce Drive. A motorcycle rider, who was traveling down 27, slammed into the truck. The bike then slid across the road and into a white SUV.
"The motorcycle was about ten feet ahead of me in the right lane, the gold Toyota just made a left turn right in front of him, just like a big explosion. And the motorcycle slid into my truck," said Kenneth Nichols who was driving that white SUV.
The rider, 42 year-old Morris Dwane White, was thrown from the bike. Some paramedics were passing at the time and they stopped to give aid but White, who is from Stanford, died at UK Hospital.
The accident shut down the northbound lane of U.S. 27 for about four hours. The force of the accident was so great that motorcycle riders helmet landed about twenty feet away from where he did.
Accident reconstruction crews were called out. Neither of the other drivers were injured.
Police say there haven't been any charges filed and it will be up to the accident reconstruction team and their findings to determine if there will be.
