Veteran’s Legacy Night gives honor and pride to veterans

LEXINGTON, KY, November 8, 2012 – Join hundreds to honor veterans locally and nationwide at the First Annual Veteran’s Legacy Night in Lexington, KY. This free event will be held on Sunday, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. The evening will include a live performance by John Elefante, former lead singer of Kansas. The Greater Lexington Apartment Association with partner with local organizations to raise funds for Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that assists combat wounded service members, their families, and families of the fallen.

A Veteran’s Legacy Night will honor and remember sacrifice of every veteran and their family. The event includes stories, musical performances, and a panel discussion. The event will be held at the Immanuel Baptist Church, 3100 Tates Creek Road, Lexington, KY. For more information about this event, visit www.veteranslegacynight.com.

"After many years of going to Veterans Day Parades that were poorly attended by our community, I thought it was time to change the way we honored our heroes,” Jay McChord, local resident and author said. “Our goal is simply to make Veterans Legacy Night a model for every community in America to replicate."

The night was inspired by the book, A Veteran’s Legacy by McChord. The book provides an opportunity for veterans of all wars and conflicts to share their personal history, experience, emotions and more for future generations. Copies of Veteran’s Legacy will be available for purchase that evening for $15. A portion of all sales will be donated to Hope For The Warriors®. In addition, people are encourage to purchase a copy to be donated to the nonprofit directly. All books purchased and donated will be given to the nonprofit and distributed to wounded service members that the nonprofit supports.
