It's crystal clear on the surveillance video. A young man starts throwing large pieces of asphalt at the glass window of the door to D & B automotive on North Main Street in Nicholasville.

After the rocks prove no match for the glass, the thief grabs something he hopes packs a little more punch. He starts ramming the door with a large piece of wood.

"Looking at the video, it's a little humorous the way he was going at it," Officer Kevin Grimes, a Nicholasville Police officer, said while watching the video with our crew.

At a few minutes after four Friday morning, the suspect got inside. Police say he stole a few small things from inside the shop, and took a pair of keys to a 2002 Nissan Maxima Parked outside.

The blue car has Kentucky plates 053 MAK.

"The car still has good value to it; it's still in pretty good shape," Grimes said.

As police work to find the suspect, shop owner David Bailey says he's working to make his garage more secure. He's pleased the thief left behind evidence, including his face on surveillance.

"I think once you guys get it out there in the public, and they take a look at it, gonna be able to determine who this guy is," Grimes said.
