Drivers in Bourbon County are facing the same issues as the rest of the state. Yesterdays change over from rain to snow with freezing temperatures left a layer of snow on the roads with ice underneath.
While the main roads through Paris are clear, many side roads are still white. Still drivers say they've been able to navigate them without too much trouble.
Don Menke, Supervisor of the Bourbon County Roads Department, says his crews were out most of the night and again this morning, plowing and salting roads but these low temperatures are a hindrance.
"When it gets real cold, fifteen or so, the salt doesn't do much. We don't have the chemicals to melt it," said Menke.
Bourbon County dispatchers say despite the snowy roads, they haven't had any accident as of Friday afternoon. Menke says no matter what the roads look like, there is one simple step to get there safely.
"People drive too fast, you just got to slow down, I think people are getting aware," he said.
So far they've used around 150 tons of salt in Bourbon County and they have more on the way.
