The fire is out, but the investigation is just beginning, as North Middletown deals with two fires in four days.
Neighbors woke to the flames, and firefighters were greeted by the heat Monday morning. Four different fire organizations responded, including North Middletown, Bourbon County, Paris and Clintonville.
"With the weather as hot and humid as it is, even at night it's hard so we like to have fresh resources," said North Middletown Fire Chief Jeff McFarland.
This fire on Church street started around 3:30 this morning. The owner of the home says no one was living there.
The home is a total loss. Firefighters say the fire isn't suspicious yet but they are calling in the Kentucky State Police arson investigation unit just to be sure.
On Friday a family's home was destroyed and a firefighter was injured at a fire on Hill n Dale Road, which is less than half a mile from this morning's fire.
