Police say they had no choice but to fire. WKYT is learning more details about an officer involved shooting that left a man badly injured.
Investigators say it started with a domestic violence call at a home on Hanson Street in Paris. Around 1 Monday afternoon, when police arrived, they say a man came to the door with a weapon. The officer told state police a man met him at the door with a weapon, and then started to fight with him. During the fight, police say, the officer shot the man.
"The ambulance pulled up and came and took the guy out of the house. He had a hole in his head about the size of a half dollar and was bleeding all over the place."
Kentucky State Police are handing the investigation. They are not releasing the man's name at this time, nor the officer's name.
