It's a bizarre case that still has police searching for answers. Still, no arrests have been made.
A man ended up in the hospital after being hit by an SUV while outside the Bourbon County Courthouse. The driver of that vehicle also ended up in the hospital, but we're told his injuries had nothing to do with the crash.
Paris Police say what started as a verbal argument between the driver of the SUV and the man walking quickly escalated.
The chain of events landed the two in the hospital.
Police say around 1 Thursday morning, a man driving a Nissan Pathfinder along High Street in Paris was arguing with another man who was walking. A woman was also with him.
Police say the fight then turned dangerous, as the man behind the wheel of the SUV ran through the Bourbon County Courthouse yard, hitting a tree, and eventually hitting the other man.
Police say the man hit was able to go get help. The woman was not hurt.
In the meantime the SUV driver pulled into a bank parking lot off of Main Street one block from the courthouse.
Police say he then walked back toward the courthouse, then to Bourbon Manor Apartments, and that's where police say he punched out the window of the front door.
When paramedics arrived, they air-lifted the driver to UK Hospital and rushed the man hit by ambulance, also to UK.
"At this point we're still piecing together everything as far as how it went. The investigation is on-going and charges are pending," says Paris Police Chief Kevin Sutton.
Paris police tell us they have questioned all three people involved. Thursday afternoon, the two men remained in the hospital.
