Arch Coal sells some Eastern Kentucky mines to another company

HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - We have learned that Arch Coal will sell its Hazard subsidiary to another company.

Arch officials announced on Wednesday that the complex and related infrastructure, along with 38 million tons of thermal coal reserves, was sold to Blackhawk Mining for $26.3 million.

The Hazard complex includes the East Mac and Nellie, Rowdy Gap, Bearville and Thunder Ridge mines along with the Teton preparation plant and the Kentucky River loading facility.

No word on if Blackhawk will make any immediate changes.
