HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Officials throughout the region learned more about elder abuse.
Responding to Elder Abuse crimes is a weeklong conference and training session.
Tuesday’s guest speaker was a district attorney from San Diego.
He gave tips on what he looks for when prosecuting elder abuse cases.
Nurses, police officers, social workers and other officials were in attendance.
“A lot of times we spot child abuse really easy, and a lot of times it's harder to spot the elder abuse; so we're just trying to train all the professionals that we can,” said Abuse Council Chairman.
The abuse council and department of criminal justice partnered together to put on the event.
