HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Folks enjoyed a good meal for a good cause Monday night in Perry County.
Applebee's in Hazard donated 15 percent of each bill to the Run for the Hills Charity Challenge.
The event kicked off a three-month period of fundraising by 17 non-profit organizations in the community.
"This is Hazard. Hazard has always been a community that's come together," Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky board chairman Danny Maggard said. "That's why we formed our community foundation, so that people can draw upon each other in times of crisis, in times of need, times of special projects to help each other. Not just now but this is about the future of our area."
The Charity Challenge culminates with the annual Run for the Hills 5k race October 4.
