There are some foods that a festival just wouldn’t be the same without, and fried foods top the list.
When it comes to fried foods, the more extreme the better, and no one knows that more than the Thrasher family.
“We do everything from deep fried cheesecake to deep fried pizza,” said owner Jeff Thrasher.
"Stuff on a stick" is a family owned business that specializes in all things fried, and today's special is deep fried cheesecake.
“We dip it in funnel cake batter and then deep fry it, and once it's deep fried we put powdered sugar over the top of that and then chocolate syrup over that. It's just really extreme,” said Thrasher
The menu items cover a wide variety of salty and sweet foods coated in batter.
They say the crazier the foods, are the ones that sell the best.
“At festivals, that's what folks are looking for is the deep fried, and they're looking for the unique thing, and that's the way we went with,” said owner Tammy Thrasher.
Even though some ideas don't always pass the taste test, customers continue to come back for more.
“Deep fried butter was just, I can't even tell you how bad,” said Tammy.
Whether you want a deep fried Oreo, or just some family fun the black gold festival has got it all.
