HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - A new program at Hazard Community and Technical College is training students to become tomorrow's police officers.
The college's criminal justice program began this semester.
The program offers four tracks including law enforcement, corrections, security, and a certificate program for computer forensics.
Officials say the program is off to a good start.
“We've felt really good about the response and we're going to see it continue to grow as the word of mouth gets out and we get more information out,” HCTC President Steve Greiner said.
Officials say technology and society have become more complex in recent years and more specialized education is now needed in the law enforcement field.
