HAZARD, Ky (WYMT) - One local veterinary practice is now accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association.
Only around 15 percent of vet practices in the country have this accreditation.
Dr. Chet Ayers who owns Town and Country Animal Clinic says they had to meet more than 900 standards of care including surgery, patient care, client communication and staff communication.
Dr. Ayers says it was a team effort to receive this accreditation.
"It's taking the next step to being the best that you can be and making sure that you are providing the best care in the pet medical field," said Dr. Ayers.
In order to say accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association, Dr. Ayers says they will have to pass evaluations every three years.
