Perry County Schools Superintendent John Paul Amis became a part of an elite group in Louisville this past weekend.

Amis was named Superintendent of the Year by the Kentucky School Board Association.

Officials with the KSBA say each candidate up for consideration must have served as a superintendent for at least five years and meet certain criteria ranging from budgeting to leadership.

Amis says the faculty and staff at the schools helped make this award possible.

“Anytime you get an individual award like that you get that because of the people you surround yourself with and you know I have been fortunate,” Superintendent Amis said.

Amis was nominated for the award by a Perry County School Board Member.
