HAZARD, Ky (WYMT) - Congressman Hal Rogers along with other community leaders unveiled a new Kentucky Teleworks Hub in Hazard Thursday.
Rogers recognized the Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program's "H.O.M.E.: initiative, or "Hiring Our Miners Everyday," as well as the teleworks program.
Officials say they hope to employ 40 people at the hub located inside the Perry County Job Sight by the end of this year.
"We've got to look out for people who have been laid off and the people going into the work force. And this day in age in which we live in which where you telecommunicate around the world, you can do the work for these companies here at home without leaving home," said Rogers.
Officials say they also want to put several teleworks hub centers throughout eastern Kentucky.
