HAZARD, Ky (WYMT) - There is a new traffic light on the Highway 15 Bypass in Hazard in front of the Save A Lot.
Right now the traffic signal is only blinking, but officials say the light will become active on Tuesday.
Officials with the state's department of highways say the new light is the result an increase in turning cars at the intersection.
Local police want drivers to be cautious in the area as people adjust to the change.
"Just be aware that there will be a change in the traffic at the intersection in front of the Save A Lot. We want motorists to be extra careful when they approach the intersection. A lot of people aren't used to the new light, and I'm sure it will take a couple of weeks to get used to it," said Paul Campbell with the Hazard Police Department.
State highway officials hope the light makes it safer for turning vehicles.
