PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Christian missionaries from Pennsylvania are in Perry County this week to host a day camp for children.
Volunteers from the Carlisle Evangelical Free Church in Pennsylvania are at the Twin Rocks Bible Camp in Viper.
They told us about their mission.
"We came down here as a team. There's, I think, 27 of us that are here and we came down just to share God's love whether it's to the kids or to the community or to the camp here." Sarah Knouse with the church told us.
Mission members are also bringing out their tool boxes, building all kinds of new structures for the campground.
Although they are only here for a few days, they hope their message is a permanent fixture.
"Hope is a good word. Whether it's hope in God, hope in Christ, hope in a life that's upbeat and exciting and rewarding." Steve Ballentine, who is also visiting from Pennsylvania, said.
On this behalf, the kids participate in a range of activities, from art projects, to just enjoying the outdoors. Camp owner and local Pastor Michael Barnett says he is beyond grateful for everything the mission has done.
"Some people say it's just coincidence. I say it's just God being anonymous, you know?" Barnett said.
On Friday, mission members will be hosting a hoe-down which they encourage people to attend beginning at six o'clock at the camp.
