The 26th Annual WYMT Whayne Supply Mountain Classic is in the books, but this year marked a first for the event.

WYMT awarded one student/athlete the first ever Wayne Martin Leadership Scholarship.

He's known for his success on the football field, the basketball court, and even the track, but there is something about Perry Central's Austin Pray that you may not know.

Pray scored a 32 on his ACT and has more than a 4.0 GPA, and to top it all off he is also involved in his community.

"We do things for the homeless shelter and the care cottage. Through the church, we do coat drives and food drives for the homeless shelter," said Pray.

For his efforts in sports, the classroom and his community, WYMT and the classic committee awarded Pray the first ever Wayne Martin Leadership Scholarship.

"It's one of those things that you don't expect to happen, but it is pretty exciting," said Pray.

Just this past week, Pray traveled back and forth from Williamsburg to play football in the Border Bowl for Kentucky as well as helping his basketball team at Perry Central win the Classic.

"It gets a little stressful sometimes, especially on those nights that we have away games, but the teachers here are pretty good about working with us," said Pray.

Pray has been offered a scholarship to play football for the air force academy.

Pray has not decided where he wants to go to college yet, but he does know he wants to play football and one day go to medical school.

Wayne Martin was the former general manager for WYMT and WKYT and helped to establish the Mountain Classic 26 years ago.
