Hazard Police received a bizarre call Thursday afternoon of people allegedly trying to make drugs inside a store.
When police arrived at Lowe's hardware store in Hazard, they learned that someone had attempted to steal substances that are common in making meth.
Police immediately evacuated shoppers and employees because the drug-related substances were allegedly mixed together inside the store.
“Someone had evidently taken them out of their original container and put them in a bag together and that’s when the reaction took place that caused the alarm,” said Hazard Police Chief Minor Allen.
Police arrested two people in Lowe's parking lot for possessing illegal drugs.
Police are not sure if the people arrested are responsible for the incident inside the store.
