HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - A man is behind bars on assault and DUI charges.
Police say 37-year-old Johnny Jones crashed into an elderly man riding a moped on Combs Road.
Officials say Jones hit the man when he turned out in front of the moped; then backed into another vehicle after the crash.
Police say Jones was under the influence of drugs at the time of the wreck.
The moped driver was sent to the Hazard ARH Hospital.
“I actually went up and talked to him he had knots on his head, and was bleeding from his head. He also complained of shoulder, elbow and hip damage,” said Perry County Sheriff’s Deputy Jerry Burns.
Jones was charged with second degree assault and driving under the influence.
