PERRY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - An investigation is underway following an overnight robbery at an Eastern Kentucky convenience store.
It happened just before midnight Tuesday morning at the Cardinal Country Mart near the Perry-Knott County line.
"They felt that they saw the end of a barrel of a gun protruding from the sleeve of one of the gentleman's hands. He demanded money from the register as well as cartons of cigarettes," said Tpr. Jody Sims of Kentucky State Police.
While he did not point the weapon, Sims said, store staff still felt unsafe.
"I don't think he fully brandished it," said Sims. "They just advised that he asked for the money and cigarettes and just advised them.....'Don't make me hurt you,' which they conveyed as a threat to their safety."
The man ran from the scene before police were able to get there, according to Kentucky State Police.
Police are looking for a tall slender white man, last seen wearing a black hoodie, gray ski mask and jeans with a design on the back pocket.
Those with information on the case are asked to call the state police post in Hazard at 606-435-6069.
