HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - A fire destroyed a home Saturday night in Perry County.
The fire started shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Augustus Court, near the intersection of Kentucky Highways 476 and 80.
Firefighters say the house was fully engulfed when they arrived, but they were able to save neighboring homes.
"The homeowner stated that there was light fixtures falling out of the house when he left," said Fisty-Dwarf Fire Chief Steve Fugate. "Said it took him just a couple minutes to get out and by the time he got out, the whole roof was on fire."
Firefighters are not sure what started the fire, although they say it may have been electrical.
They say no people were injured, but some pets may have been lost.
Firefighters from the Fisty-Dwarf and Jakes Branch fire departments responded to the fire.
