BIG CREEK, Ky. (WYMT) - Signs of positivity and frustration now hang in front of a closed Perry County Elementary School.
Teachers spent the weekend at Big Creek Elementary packing up their belongings.
They boxed up books, desks, and other school supplies in preparation for the move.
“These people that I've worked with and these kids and stuff, they're family. It bothers me to think that I have to move on, and start over. But I'm sure I'll be welcomed where ever I go,” said 3rd and 4th grade teacher, Kevin Fugate.
Teachers told us they didn't know who was responsible for the signs.
The signs show love for the school, but also show frustration in the school board's decision to close it.
“Even the kids don't need the negativity. We've got to try to remain positive, and try to focus on the kids because that's what it should all be about,” said Big Creek teacher, Ynetta Eckert.
Faculty and staff say they expect to know where their new positions will be within the week.
