HAZARD, Ky (WYMT/WKYT) - The three victims of last Tuesday's shooting in the parking lot of Hazard Community and Technical College were laid to rest on Monday.
Hundreds of friends, family and community members came to the John C. Combs arena to say their last goodbyes to Taylor, Caitlin and Jackie "Doug" Cornett.
A community is left shaken, and for those that knew 12-year-old Taylor Cornett, 20-year-old Caitlin Cornett and 53-year-old Jackie "Doug" Cornett a void has been left.
"I was at the table one night, and I just started thinking about it, and I just started crying. It hurts," said Leslie Richie, a friend of Taylor Cornett.
"There was thousands of people that loved him and looked up to him. I mean I looked up to him. He was like a brother that I never had," said Gary Hurt, a friend of Doug Cornett.
He wants people to remember Doug as a preacher and a man who loved his children.
"I can't believe it's real. It's like it's numbed me all over," said Hurt.
"It doesn't click in until a few days later and you don't see her on Facebook and you see every body saying that she is gone. And it just hits all of a suddenly, and you realize she is gone, and it's all real," said Richie.
The long line around Perry Central served as a testament to what many people told us, that Taylor, Caitlin and Jackie Cornett will be missed in this community.
