HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - With schools opening across Eastern Kentucky, folks in Perry County had the chance to get some free medical and dental care for their children today. The event was held outside the Primary Care in Hazard.
This year marks the tenth annual Back to School Fun Fest sponsored by the Primary Care Centers of Eastern Kentucky. Free sports physicals and dental screenings were provided. There were also games, inflatables and other attractions for the kids.
"There's some children that aren't comfortable going to the doctor. This makes it fun for them. There's other activities for them to do that makes it a better experience and it also helps the parents because there are some parents that maybe do not have insurance," said Candice Combs, a parent who brought her daughter to the event for a dental screening.
Organizers say 200 sports physicals and 75 dental screenings are usually given to children at the event.
