BELFRY, Ky. (WYMT) - Belfry head coach Philip Haywood is always talking about getting his #2 Pirates to play better than the week before.
Last week the Pirates rolled over Prestonsburg 53-6, but Haywood says his defense still has some work to do. He says as they prepare for the Pikeville Panthers and their spread offense, the thing his defense will need to work on is communication.
"Offensively, we had already mentioned that to our team earlier," says Haywood. "One week we said we had to communicate better offensively, so we had improved on that aspect, but this time not defensively. I think players and coaches, the whole gammit of the team has to communicate. We've got to know what the right hand is doing compared to the left hand. That kind of thing. And that takes time."
