PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Two teenagers were killed when the vehicle they were in struck an embankment early Friday morning on KY 1469 in Pikeville.
Kentucky State police responded to the accident around 2am. A 1999 Mustang driven by 18-year-old Johnathan Newsome, with seven other passengers, struck an embankment when making a turn onto Ky 1469.
Newsome and one of his passengers, 18-year-old Alexandrea Tipton, were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The names and conditions of the other six passengers have not been released at this time. Police say no one was wearing a seatbelt.
The accident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
