PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - It is something they have been working toward for their entire lives, and now it is a reality.

Kory Caudill and Roger Coleman grew up playing music in here in Eastern Kentucky. Now they are beginning a tour with one of country music's rising stars, and their first stop is right here in the mountains.

Theirs is not a story of overnight success.

"We've seen people come and go and with us we've always been on the upper. It's been slow but it's more rewarding like that," said Caudill.

They grew up playing music at the Mountain Arts Center, each with big dreams of their own.

Those dreams started becoming reality when up-and-coming country singer Justin Moore spotted Caudill.

"(He) liked the way Kory played and asked him if he'd be interested in joining his band," said Coleman.

Kory did not leave Roger behind. He suggested him as a guitar player for the band.

"He offered all these performance opportunities to me so it felt good for me to be able to send something his way for once," he said.

Together they have spent almost five years watching the band grow.

"Now all the sudden we have two semis and two buses and we're headlining a tour," said Caudill.

Coleman agreed, "It's just crazy to think about, especially a bunch of hillbillies from Kentucky and Arkansas. It's not supposed to happen to us."

They say their success is all thanks to their roots.

"We got to learn in an environment at the Mountain Arts Center that people around the country don't have," said Caudill.

"It really is something in the water back here with all the talent," said Coleman.

They say they cannot wait to get the show kicked off right in their own backyard.

"You've got down home people and then down hope people on the stage playing down home music. It's going to be off the charts. I can't wait," said Coleman.

The pair says they still have big plans to play some of their own music in the future.

The tour begins Thursday night at the East Kentucky Expo Center.
