PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - As Autisim Awareness Month is wrapping up, hundreds came out for the East Kentucky Autism Awareness Walk held in Pikeville on Saturday.

The event was hosted by the Pike County Judge's Office, the City of Pikeville, and the Expo Center.

Folks from around the region came out to show their support and raise awareness. Irene Sturgeon says, "We've been coming out here every year and I see how these kids prosper and progress. I just think that that is why it is so important to me and it is important to me because of my grandson.

7th Grade Student, Keaton Sturgeon says, "I am out here to help people learn about autism and help them learn and help people understand what it is and what it does."

The event featured activities, games, food, information booths, and a walk through downtown Pikeville.
