PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - A fire outside the BB&T building in downtown Pikeville caused a mess inside the building and several court proceedings to be rescheduled.

The Pikeville Fire Department responded to the fire Sunday afternoon just after 1 o'clock.

Firefighters say while they were extinguishing the fire in the generator behind the building, they noticed smoke coming from the electrical room.

Battalion Chief Robert Lindsey says, "Had the power disconnected and contacted the property manager and occupants of the building, each floor is occupied by various agencies. all were contacted. The building was deemed un-occupiable."

Officials say folks can get back in the building once the electrical and sprinkler systems are restored.
