KSP asks for public to view playing cards to help solve cold cases

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - The start of 2013 means another year has gone by for several Kentucky families still wanting answers about their loved ones. Kentucky State Police are asking for the public's help in solving these cold cases with a deck of playing cards.

Trooper Shaun Little says, "These investigations remain open and these detectives currently investigate them the fullest they can."

KSP posts across the state are asking the public to view a deck of playing cards online. The deck of cards were distributed to prisons 2 years ago as Little explains, "In 2010 KSP distributed over 8,000 decks of playing cards which had depicted unsolved crimes in the Commonwealth. Those 8,000 cards were distributed to prisons across the state as well as detention centers."

Officials believe putting the playing cards out there has paid off, "Since we started these in 2010, we've actually solved three cases from using these decks of cards" says Little.

Officials want the public to come forward with any information they may have as Little says, "You may not think that any info you have is worth calling the police post but these detectives they can use that info and it may as an end result solve these cases for us."

Anyone with information can remain anonymous. You can view the playing cards at the link listed.
