Dozens of Eastern Kentuckians put on their walking shoes to raise money for a cause close to their hearts.
Friends, families and co-workers joined together in Pikeville on Thursday for the Light the Night Walk.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society sponsored the walk, which helped bring help and hope to people battling blood cancers.
Participants said they were grateful for the large turnout of supporters as well as the donations raised for the disease.
The event's organizer, Scrapy Louis Barnes, says blood cancer became a disease close to his heart after he lost his daughter, Rachel, to it in 2005.
Gospel music singer Lorraine Howard sang a song in memory of Rachel and others who lost their battle with the disease.
The next Light the Night Awareness Walk will take place on September 22nd at the Whitaker Bank Ball Park in Lexington.
