META, Ky. (WYMT) - UPDATE 2/1/14
Officials with The Mountain Water District in Pike County say they are working hard to get their system back to normal.
There are about 150 customers without water and about 1,000 under a boil water advisory.
Officials say they are now receiving water from their supplier in Williamson, West Virginia. This is allowing their tanks to fill back up.
They hope to have all water back on by Sunday afternoon. Those impacted will remain under the boil water advisory until officials feel their system is once again stable.
Officials continue to urge all customers to conserve water and report any leaks or breaks immediately. You can report issues at (606) 631-9162.
Areas under the boil water advisory include:
- Dials Branch
- Southside Mall Area
- Slaters Branch/Rt. 292
- Runyons Branch of Stone
- Smith Fork of Blackberry
- Rt. 119 from Aflex/Burnwell to the intersection of Rt. 119 and Rt. 319 at the Velocity Market - Extending on Rt. 319 to Apple Blossom Hollow, including Black Gem, Forest Hills, and all side hollows.
- From Frozen Creek to the head of Raccoon Creek
Mountain Water District officials in Pike County are asking all customers to conserve water.
Officials say there is a water shortage and they do anticipate some outages.
Water officials say they are working diligently to get the system back to normal after experiencing effects from the freezing temperatures.
Roy Sawyers explains, "It has gotten warmer and when it does things pop out, spring out. We have meter bases pop out or break...or we may have a main line break or an issue."
