Original story:

NORTH WILKESBORO, Nc. (WYMT/WXII) - A man is behind bars in North Carolina, accused of murdering a Pike County native and her son.

Police in North Wilkesboro arrested 33 year old Jason Pardue on Friday.

The arrest comes after officers found Kelly Pruitt, 33 and her son Kevin Hurley, 8 dead at their home early Friday morning.

The mother and son had been missing for several days before police found them.

Officers say Pardue continued to live in the home for days after the two were killed.

Wilkes County, North Carolina Sheriff Chris Shew says Pruitt was stabbed multiple times and evidence suggests Hurley was suffocated.

"We seldom have anything of this magnitude. It's a senseless killing. You don't understand it. There's no reason for anyone to harm an 8 year old." Sheriff Shew said.

Pardue is charged with two counts of murder, two counts of first-degree sex offense with a minor under 13 and one count of incest.

Funeral services are set for the victims.

Visitation for both Kelly Pruitt and Kevin Hurley starts Tuesday night at five at the Jamboree Church of God of Phelps.

Their funeral will be Thursday afternoon at one, also at the church.
