PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Wednesday morning Pikeville's Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and other volunteers delivered items to the new veterans transitional housing center in Pike County.
With money raised and can foods collected through the 'No Veteran Forgotten March' held a few weeks ago...the group was able to provide some items for the housing center which just opened in June.
Currently, there are eleven veterans living at the center.
The State Commander, Martha Cassity, traveled from Louisville to help deliever the gifts.
She says, "It is my special project this year. I've seen a lot of homeless veterans, I've talked to them, listened to them and they need our help and that is what we are all about...veterans helping veterans."
They also presented a $300 check.
