Rescue agencies from around the region continue to contribute to tornado victims

Posted: Tue 4:50 PM, Mar 06, 2012

Many agencies from counties not hit by the tornadoes are helping with relief efforts.

Firefighters and rescue squad members from Pike County are helping in Morgan, Magoffin, Johnson, and Martin Counties.

Pike County crews say agencies from these counties helped them after recent floods, so they are now lending a helping hand.

“We've had to call on others in the past, especially Floyd County. Anytime we can return a favor to help the community and the commonwealth of Kentucky, that's what we're here for,” Belfry Fire Chief Nee Jackson said.

The groups started with rescue efforts Friday night and are now helping to distribute needed items.
