PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Secretary of State Alison Lundergran Grimes was back in the mountains Wednesday promoting her campaign to increase civic engagement.
The Civic Health Initiative roundtable stopped at the University of Pikeville for the final stop on the tour.
The campaign is designed to explore ways to get more involved and educated in state government.
Grimes' office released a report last year showing civic engagement in Kentucky is dropping and she hopes this series of events will begin to turn the trend around.
"It was really exciting to be here at UPIKE for our final civic health roundtable as we hear about how the citizens here in Pike County, the largest county in Kentucky, are staying active and engaged,” said Grimes.
The initiative also stopped at the University of Cumberlands back in March.
